Pros

The company is yet again on the cusp of a product pivot for better or for worse. Great challenge if you are a self learner and can pick up the baton where the previous engineering team left off and are willing to participate in a company looking to rebuild it's culture from ground zero.

Cons

The history of the company is riddled with questionable management decisions and horrendous contracts. To the effect that has forced the private equity firm and newly appointed CEO to file a chapter 11 bankruptcy in an effort to save the company with a herculean pivot of product strategy. There is a lack of clear vision of where the company intends to go. One day the existing engineering team is a vital asset for the survival of the company and a requirement to future success of the new product(s). Just to be followed by monthly lay offs that claimed most of the engineer staff not already departed of their own accord. Long are the days gone where new ideas are embraced and vetted amongst your peers . Answering to managerial requests with anything other than "Yes" could be met with opposition, or if the request is voiced from a certain Director, a possible retort of negative remarks and/or attempts of degradation of your work ethic and/or character may occur. Replying with constructive criticism or feedback can be dismissed and may be argued against you. Transparency, honesty, and is trust touted to be the new internal mantra. The recent actions of management speak otherwise.

Pros

Hart is truly a unique company in the all the best ways. The overall culture just oozes acceptance and support. I've worked at companies in the past in both in entry level roles as well as management, and I can say truly that Hart is the only company I have been at that has supported me 100% in both my professional and personal goals and initiatives. There is very much a culture of open communication, and upper level individuals are always open to new concepts and ideas. I feel like I can be and express myself without judgement, and feel aligned with the entire company on our goal and mission. The benefits themselves are reasons to stay. Daily catered lunches, relaxed schedules, and not to mention 100% covered health benefits.

Cons

The biggest con I have noticed seem to be a lack of involvement from the Co-Founders. Even though we are small (less than 30 people) I have only spoken to Craig, the CEO, a handful of times. While I don't expect them to be involved in the day-to-day, it would be nice to see them in the office more and making a better attempt to push is in our goals. Mo is more slightly involved but is traveling more often than not and only addresses the company every few weeks at the rare Town Halls where he attends. We are progressing as a company of course, but sometimes it feels like Hart is more of a hobby for the Co-Founders than their main priority.
