Pros

The Harvard research center is really good at marketing and branding, and cultivating a culture that tries to make people like they're the brightest and best people in the world. Berkman Klein does bring together some of the most rockstar researchers in the field of public interest work on tech & the internet. The people who make up the community are often very thoughtful, kind, and compassionate when you get to know them individually.

Cons

The Berkman Klein center has not sought to be a leader in its field in terms of payment of its research assistants and interns. As of 2018, the center was still paying its summer research interns only $11.50/hour — the same amount the center paid summer interns in 2010 (found on archived versions of the center's website via Internet Archive). Staff members in my experience do not always adequately give student interns credit for the work they do. The center is largely led by a team of white, old men; it's a bit of an old boys club.

Pros

You work with experts from every field possible in science from Mechanobiology to Metallurgy and working as a ML intern along with scientists from different fields gave me a lot of exposure and how to work in a research department.

Cons

One challenge encountered was maintaining a clear focus on training objectives, as the evolving parameters required continuous reassessment of the model's learning priorities. Additionally, the absence of established ground truth for the domain presented a limitation in validating and guiding the approach effectively.

Pros

Great benefits and paid time off

Cons

In FAS 25% staff layoffs and reorganization expected sowing much worry. Approximately 10% of jobs already cut in year-long hiring freeze
