Harvest accounting is by far the most ridiculous, toxic, and unprofessional organization in the Phoenix metro. In 2019 over an 80% turnover in its accounting professionals. Simply put management does not respect or value any of its employees. They get new people in, and they promise the sun and the moon, only to use them until they burn out employees. You will be held to unrealistic expectations. You will be put in a position where your manager will be in meetings for six to eight hours a day every day. You will be on your own, and then they will lie to you and tell you if you need help or something just ask. They will put you in a position where the only thing you can do is fail because they don't have the system or process is built to ensure that you will have success. Managers and above simply don't care about you, you're just a warm body pressing buttons. You will be pushed to the limit of what is ethical and moral for the sake of just getting things done. They will bring in contractors, who they will favor over their own employees. When the contractors also get burned out they just get new ones. They will bring in upper level managers who will lie to you, and who will scheme behind your back. Managers will gossip about you to other managers within earshot distance to your cubicle. They will empower you with the belief that you take ownership to solve a problem, but then when you actually do they punish you. They come to you with the position of how dare you take on ownership and leadership without asking for our permission. This is the most toxic cesspool as a professional I have ever encountered. If you have the courage to speak up to management regarding these issues or even speak to human resources about unprofessional conduct you will simply paint a target on your chest. They will nitpick until they can justify firing you or you quit. They game the system in order to eliminate anyone who has the courage to stand up for what is right, or anyone who has the courage to hold management accountable for their failure to lead and to put employees in a position where they can have success. This organization fails, not because it's in a bad industry, not because it's getting too big too quickly. They fail because leadership is absent, and when their management do show up the only thing they manage to do is make things worse. Accounting teams are pitted against each other to blame each other for not doing this or that, but yet they refuse to even make documented policy or procedure in order to establish a minimum standard required for financial reporting. Financial statements are at best an estimate of where they are financially, and not a reflection of accurate financial reporting. Stay away from this organization at all cost, less you be pressured into a toxic, unprofessional, immoral, unethical, and destructive position. Human resources acts as the Gestapo for management to suppress the voice of its workers.
