Pros
Wonderful benefits package (though salaries are a bit low), inspiring story, committed and talented colleagues, perhaps the most motivating and impactful mission you could find but...
Cons
Chronic understaffing creates the perception that people should be able to cope and perform no matter what. In a year, the organization went from believing it was on the precipice of scaling globally to realizing the financial landscape was changing, and ambitions never adjusted. Insecure/incompetent, controlling, and sometimes gaslighting middle managers have caused a considerable degree of turnover in the last two years. Senior leadership is quick to blame others for what's wrong when in many cases they and their direct reports are the reason for the problems at hand. A recent strategic pivot means for profit professionals want to run a nonprofit like a business; some see HarvestPlus as a catalyst, others an evidence generator, and still others a delivery mechanism. Only certain voices are welcome; some people can do whatever they want, while others are pushed out.
