Not a lot of opportunity to move up. Salary is dependent on elected leaders committee assignment and ability to get reelected.

Great staff to work with in a collegial atmosphere. Great opportunity to learn from the ground the procedures to create new law, such as research, drafting, and collaboration with stake holders. Opportunity for growth and other professional opportunities.

Long work hours. Very steep learning curve. Minimal guidance. Bureaucratic tendency towards hiring and opportunities to grow. Little feedback on progress, no status reviews on work product.
