Pros
It was lovely to build a rapport with customers. There was always work to be done, so this job is perfect for those who like to keep busy. You find all kinds of gems at charity shops and it is rewarding knowing that you are part of a good cause.
Cons
The main issue I had was with head office making unreasonable targets. You can only rely on what stock is donated at this type of organisation, and most of the staff are volunteers who tend to come and go as they please. I can't expect more from them since they are giving up their time for free. Management don't seem to understand just how hard I worked to try and meet the targets, oftentimes alone. Yet they were never satisfied and would constantly put pressure on me. They also expect you to volunteer for one day, which I thought was taking liberties. So if you work 5 days a week, you would only be paid for 4 of those days!
