Pros

Can’t think of anything tbh.

Cons

So I interviewed for the part time ‘counselor’ position and started work - I resigned soon after the training period ended. Don’t think for one second that you will be counselling anybody, this is a call centre position plain and simple. When you log on in the morning you have to have 5 different screens up so that you are seen to be available. God help you if you make a mistake while trying to navigate their complex array of screens. Single session ‘in the moment support’ is what they call it. It’s basically a sign posting tick box position. I’m now working for another EAP platform where clients get more than 12 sessions and I can actually do in depth work with them. I log on to one screen and start work. I am treated really well and get the support I need. Health Hero is all about making money. I am aghast at why companies pay good money to them to look after their staff.

Dear Reviewer, We're truly sorry to hear about your experience during your time with us. It's important to us that all team members feel fulfilled in their roles and we regret that your expectations were not met. We also value transparency and encourage our team members to share their feedback with us directly while they're working with us. Your insights could have been valuable in improving our processes and services. For clarification, the services that we provide for our customers are Employee Assistance Programmes, which are orientated around helpline services, so there is a core element of call centre operations to facilitate effective delivery. The scope of the counselling provided is short-term and solution focussed. This form of counselling is not suitable for all situations and is not designed for long term/ongoing clinical engagements. To run a viable business, we must strictly adhere to the parameters of our commercial contracts. This is clearly communicated to all our counsellors through the recruitment process and induction training. We're glad to hear that you've found a role that aligns better with your professional goals and provides the support you need. We sincerely wish you all the best in your current position. ✨

Pros

Experience of varied client presentations. No choice but to become a more time efficient therapist, especially with clinical decisions.

Cons

Pay is awful and no room for negotiation. Company boasts about growth, but wages and benefits are stagnant. Increased focus on call-statistics and less time for admin (even digital CBT clients have to be done between other calls). No room for progression. Half the time for client assessments than even the NHS. Half an hour break for a full clinical day. Communication is v v inefficient and inconsistent.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad to hear you’ve gained exposure to a wide range of client work and developed your clinical efficiency. We’re sorry to hear your concerns around pay, workload, and communication. This is a fast-paced service, and we know it can feel intense at times, particularly in a role supporting clients in distress. Your feedback on progression, breaks, and how we manage time and communication is important, and we’ll take this on board as we continue to evolve the role and support for our teams. Thank you again for your feedback, and we wish you all the best going forward. 💫
