Cons
The rota is terrible, all the visits are far apart from each other and you sometimes need to walk 20 minutes to get to each visit. You can take a bus but your fare is not paid for.
- you get LARGE unpaid gaps. Your first visit can be for 8am until 8.30am and your next visit won’t be until 10am. You sit outside waiting around and you are not paid. Essentially, your rota could be from 8am to 8pm but you only get paid for 6 hours even though you’re out in the field for 12 hours. It’s horrible. Cares keep requesting the visits to be closer together or for there to be a morning shift rota and evening shift rota but they refuse.
- the staff are rude when you call them and do not take complaints seriously
- instead of giving their current staff more visits the fill the gaps, they hire too many new people and give away visits which then give carers 4 hour gaps in the middle of the day, it’s ridiculous
- only work for them if you are desperate for money but know that you will be physically and mentally exhausted
