Pros

Hearst is a well known brand and that’s about it.

Cons

I started remotely last year and can say that this company has a toxic culture. Higher up execs just like to sit pretty and constantly steal good ideas from their subordinates and take all of the credit. This is probably one of the worst companies I have worked for that doesn’t seek honest feedback on their management and is a total boys club. Terrible performance review system since they like to function as a “start-up”. In fact, the relationships among these top leaders is so strong that they promote each other and if you have anything different to say you will be reprimanded in passive aggressive ways. Strategically there has not been any innovation in over 10+ years on the core strategy of the business and people are incredibly hesitant to try new things. There has not been any strategic effort to grow the network of partnerships on the inventory front as well. Management does not have a strong technical or higher-level business background so there’s always a power struggle to get access to information that should otherwise be shared freely across the org. Culturally employees are so scared to quit or move on that they actively seek opportunities to sabotage each other from meetings and conversations with managers.

Pros

Your peers are great. The people that make the company run are all good, kind people

Cons

The leadership team cares more about you being in the office than they do about the quality of the work. As long as you scan your badge 4x a week they're happy.
