Things can be very relaxed. Nothing moves fast around here. It is constant waiting for contracts and paperwork and somebody to give the okay before any work gets done. If you like this kind of thing then you fit right in. Otherwise, you just end up frustrated. The CEO is very friendly and approachable.

Senior management- Many feel they have earned their spot and now get to kick back and let the newbs figure things out. The clients. The clients are internal to the Veterans Affair department. HDRI builds software for them. These people believe they are meant to get paid to not work. I had to hunt down clients just to get meetings. Some of them would tell me that 9am was too early but 3pm was too late. Otherwise they claimed to be too busy with meetings and such in between. Also, don't try to schedule meetings with them on Fridays because they are out. So basically they work from 10-3 Mon-Thurs. They were upset I would actually do work and had them have to review it and actually participate. They wanted software to magically land on their laps with no work. The process- Things take forever to get done because there's always the politics and process and signatures you have to go through just to get started. Some employees that had been there for years told me the current projects being worked on had been completely stopped years ago and were now being revisited and that this was typical. The extreme security- If you can get used to having to do small talk with a security guard every morning and going through metal detector every single time you walk in and out of building then you'll be fine.
