USA management is constantly working toward driving down the salary of employees.
During my tenure they have halved the per mile rate you make for driving your own vehicle, removed the ability to be compensated for lunches you are forced to skip by management and remote dispatchers due to business needs, introduced a KPI based bonus system that cannot be achieved due to the indexes being controlled by a third party (EG if parts are not shipped to the client and you cannot complete a repair you have a negative KPI score) and now they will not pay hourly rates for travel time when travel is mandated by the company. This is likely illegal but absolutely immoral.
