Pros

HeyOrca is definitely a spot where no 2 days are the same! If you're looking for a challenge and an opportunity to grow - this is the perfect place for you. Roles & responsibilities are not defined by their job postings and regularly evolve based on the ever-changing needs of the business. HeyOrca is growing fast and so what is required of the team changes quickly, allowing for plenty of learning and professional growth. HeyOrca being a startup with loose job descriptions and constantly evolving needs attracts a certain breed of people. You're surrounded by extremely driven, passionate, and intelligent individuals - day in and day out. This pushes you to continuously improve, which is a value of everyone on the team. There are many things that make HeyOrca a unique and amazing place to work, but the opportunity to learn and grow is chief among them.

Cons

While I personally consider the lack of structure and very fast pace a pro, others may definitely find it a con. A startup environment is not for everybody and not having a manager prescribe what you do from 9-5 can definitely be a little stressful for the average employee. The management team is definitely young and lacks experience, which can lead to some frustration, but they are committed to continuous improvement. Overall, the experience is a work in progress and everyone is involved in shaping that experience.

Pros

Awesome co-workers Payscale on par with Toronto based SaaS startups of their scale which is tied to experience Opportunities for career growth and team leadership Willingness to change and adopt new technologies/solutions You succeed or fail based on your merit alone Fast paced environment that encourages you to constantly push boundaries Company laptop Company phone Spotify account Health benefits & RRSP Stock in the company Incredible consultants available for advice on anything you could want, from technical issues to career growth You can work from home Fishbowl Fridays Sponsored social events with your co-workers Arcade system set up so you can play Street Fighter whenever you want Leadership that solicits and values candid feedback Free beer Open & transparent decision making Weekly professional training sessions Monthly hackathons

Cons

It's a startup, so adjust your expectations accordingly-- there's not a let of "set in stone" process, your duties will shift from time to time, you'll be constantly required to learn new things incredibly quickly and begin implementing them immediately, you're expected to be an adult and be able to engage in constructive conflict resolution. Although, with that said, I consider those things pros but a lot of people don't.
