Relaxed work environment, but don't expect to have a long term future here - Information Technology Hibbert Employee Review

Pros

The environment is very low pressure for an IT company. There is no sense of urgency to get things up and working quickly. Most of the equipment is current, but not cutting edge. Operating systems are kept up to current standards. The people below senior management are great. Very friendly environment to work in. Also offers flextime and some work from home for people working in IT.

Cons

The pro of a low pressure has led to an environment where they don't seem to take customer downtime very seriously. Money pressure is very high; they keep old equipment around past end of life to try to squeeze some extra dollars out of it. There is a lot of pressure to use free or low cost software which can't perform the functions that management is looking for. Two recent layoffs, March 31 and August 1, cut many longtime people while leaving in place other recent hires with the same job title. In both of these layoffs only 1 high management level person was cut. It appears that once you become more expensive you are next on the chopping block to be replaced with a cheaper less expensive person performing the same function (unless you have a relative or friend in management). Very high levels of manual file processing have lead to many quality issues. Quality issues are also caused by having new inexperienced people in the place of experienced people who were laid off for money reasons.

Pros

Co-Workers and Manager Hybrid Work Environment Reachable and Supportive CEO Benefits Continued opportunities to learn via training and helpful teammates Role is challenging which fosters growth. Encourages a healthy lifestyle with perks.

Cons

None to speak of. One of the best companies I have worked for. If anything, would like the opportunity to be able to spend live time with support staff at least once a year.

Pros

I like the work here. I like my boss and I like a lot about working here. The work is satisfying and you feel like you make a difference for your client. Supporting the employees is a value of the company and they do that through many ways such as wellness goals with financial rewards and mentor programs. Many employees have been here a very long time and are committed to the company.

Cons

But there can be a toxic negative environment (constant jokes about how it sucks and things are hopeless) and the work load is unrealistic for everyone - everyone is behind and barely keeping up. At times the environment it was a bit too political for me (to be fair, I hate politics at work) and the different departments can get unpleasant and blameful with Different departments can get blameful and unpleasant towards each other instead of working together as a team. Many of the systems are a mess and a lot of time is wasted fixing them or working on them to make them work. It can be a frustrating place to work and, despite the company's goals of supporting the staff which I believe are genuine, you can feel like there is just too much working against you to succeed.at times.
