Pros
First and foremost, it's the people. The team over at Hicom are passionate, hard-working and professional but they are also friendly, team-players and encourage each other to succeed. The company has a very ethical approach to business. They care about being affordable for our clients, provide a lot of free advice and they also promote working within our local community. The company raises money for a handful of charities every year; staff have two optional volunteering days each per year; the staff also organise things like litter-picking walks. All around, the company and the staff are ethically focussed which adds to the community culture. The actual office and the location is great. A short walk away from a supermarket, post office, bakery, etc. and only 6 minutes walk from the train station. There are lots of office perks, dual monitors, standing/sitting desks, break-out rooms, pool table, games, instruments, etc. There are also plenty of workplace benefits from working here. 35 hour weeks but still with 1 hour lunchbreaks, generous holiday package, private healthcare, liberal HR policies, flexible working, remote working and so on. They do not just give staff the minimum legal amount but genuinely care about their employee wellbeing. The social events are fantastic and varied and several of these happen each year. There are evening events, meals, family days, adventure days and so on.
Cons
With VitalHub's recent acquisition of Hicom, there are still some teething issues but our colleagues over at VitalHub are also really welcoming and are receptive to feedback on our transition into the VitalHub group. Sometimes resources for projects can be tight and staff have to cover additional responsibilities in addition to their role. This is however recognised and rewarded and can be a good way as an employee to demonstrate your capabilities. Taking additional responsibilities and/or delivering on difficult projects results typically result in generous bonuses and/or more career opportunities - and your preference will be taken into account.
