Pros

The team is very intelligent and collaborative, with plenty of open discussion and idea sharing. There’s a strong sense of trust and ownership, and people are given a lot of responsibility over meaningful projects. The work is interesting and often involves newer data science approaches, so there’s good exposure to modern tools and techniques. The company tries to be data-driven when making decisions, which places a lot of importance on our work. On a day-to-day level, it’s relatively easy to deploy models and code, which makes it possible to move quickly and instantly see the impact of our changes, which can be a very rewarding experience. Pay is competitive for the level of responsibility, and the CEO / senior leadership is clearly engaged with what teams are working on.

Cons

It’s a fast-paced environment in a rapidly changing industry, which means priorities can shift fairly often.

Pros

Remote work. Employees are nice.

Cons

Leadership. Primarily the CEO and his wife, the VP of Operations. Their decision making skills consist of speaking in word stew for 30 minutes straight, yelling at employees openly and publicly, and lacking the base-level knowledge needed to successfully navigate employment law. I have been working for over 30 years and I have never in my life experienced such a toxic duo in a leadership team. If you're curious as to how toxic it can be, just take a look at how many HR leaders they've ran through in the last several years. No one in their right mind would stay on board to be a patsy for their detrimental and many time illegal employment practices. Discrimination, racism, removal of employee benefits, etc. This place is a dumpster fire, and the if the CEO doesn't do something about it soon the company won't be able to dig itself out of the hole it's currently in.
