Pros

Great co-workers...the intern program is a good way to explore the inner working of the company. Ethically aware (Member of PETA, promoter of Vegan lifestyle)

Cons

Do you notice the previous reviews are all contributed within the same time period? 5 reviews in two days (Jan 24-25/Feb 6). This was most likely done to try to reclaim the narrative that HSI is a bad place to work; don't believe it. HSI is the worst example of horrible workplace culture I've ever seen and it's not even close. The problems start at the top and trickle down from there. The CEO is quite possibly the cruelest, most profane and inhumane person I've encountered in any workplace. He rules through fear, insults, and psychological abuse of his salaried employees and management staff. In turn, management reflects this in interactions with employees in their charge. His behavior includes but is not limited to personal insults, threats of legal action, and even veiled threats of bodily harm and it is unacceptable in any decent workplace. He has been sued for past instances of this behavior and yet, has continued to exhibit such poor behavior. This is not hyperbole. Avoid this place if you can and spare your sanity.

Pros

The environment is healthy and comfortable. Open door policy with management is great and co workers are fun to work with. Plenty of help if needed.

Cons

No cons for the company or employees. The only cons that I see in the reviews are personal and dependent on that individual. Their comments should not reflect on the company.

Pros

Underground parking....for management employees only. Cutting edge technology.

Cons

This is - by far - the worst company I ever worked for. I'm actually embarrassed that I was an employee there! First day on the job you are greeted with the fact that you have two 10 minute breaks, a 30 minute lunch and, regardless of level, you punch in and out for work and lunch (even if you are a Manager or Director). You are also told that it is a privilege to interact with the CEO, however you should never go into his office even if the door is open. If you are invited to meet with him, you are told to bring a pad of paper and something to write with and to remain silent until addressed. Seriously? Most CEOs are smart and extraordinarily busy individuals; however they enjoy interaction with their employees. The benefits are a joke; substandard medical benefits, a minimal number of paid Holidays (less than any other company that i've ever worked for), NO 401k, you don't get a week of paid vacation until after a year of employment, and so on. However the real downfall of this company is the culture. The CEO throws temper tantrums and directs profanity-laced tirades at employees. I've never witnessed people being publicly humiliated by the CEO on regular basis until I worked here. HSI brags about having a "no politics" culture but i found the complete opposite to be true. I would never advise my worst enemy to work at this place. It was simply awful.
