Pros
It's a great place to get your foot in all sorts of doors of the media and entertainment worlds. You'll go to a lot of swanky parties and, despite management being obtuse, there are plenty of areas where a smart person can make a great impact on the business's bottom line.
Cons
The pay isn't great, the management and execution of company's expenses policy is probably illegal (I sued and won). Succeeding at The Hollywood Reporter (THR) is like living under a constant Sword of Damocles. Because most, if not all, workers at THR secretly harbor fantasies of great big Hollywood success, it can be a ruthless place. Double standards based on skin color, gender and sexuality are everywhere. Because of this human resources is often MIA when you need them — HR also likes to allow managers to construct job roles that seem structured to allow psychotic executives to cause chaos and undermine productivity. So if you get hired here and start having trouble at work, lawyer up fast.
