Opportunities to Grow and Lead - Pastor Hope Community Church(NC) Employee Review

I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Hope Community Church. While it's not perfect (as no church is), I've always said that even when I disagree with the leaderships decisions, I trust that their heart is passionate about following the leading of the Holy Spirit. The church has a messy history with rough leadership transition, but has reached a place of stability with a committed congregation.

For a long time getting things done required going through a lot of red tape, but there has been an ever-growing realization that those systems and processes aren't the best for accomplishing goals in ministry.

High end computers, nice offices located near good businesses, good benefits.

It's a culture of back-stabbing and phoniness. Every department trashes one another behind their backs. The only time I saw the staff united was against the doomed podcast - EVERYONE ripped it to pieces and wanted to see it fail. They must have been overjoyed to have watched it happen. They'll bang the "our staff is a family!" drum at interviews, but you won't make one meaningful connection there. Everyone at Hope is out for one thing: Themselves. It's even worse now than when I was there, though, because now they're in survival mode. Tithing is way down, they've laid off or fired over 50 people in the last year, so those who toughed it out are literally the worst of the worst. Avoid working here. It's as bad as you've heard. Ask around. Everyone knows about Hope Community Church.
