Pros

Staff (not admin) is wonderful. Pay and benefits are comparable to others in the city. Clean hospital. Supplies are always available. Decent vacation time (they encourage us to use it)

Cons

Administration does not care about staff. They only worry about their reputation, improving scores, receiving Magnet. We are micromanaged on a large scale. We have ZERO autonomy. Some middle managers care but their hands are tied by the high level administrators, who are bullies. Surgeons are treated like gods, who can make large mistakes, yet we are expected to be perfect or we get fired. Patients can treat us like garbage and we are expected to sacrifice our dignity and self-respect to make them happy. All for good scores. We are discouraged from using our sick time. Sick time policy is unrealistic. We are incredibly understaffed, yet the expectations and standards remain at the highest level. We are scared to speak up. Speak up, become a target. If they don't like you, watch out. We are expected to be transport team while caring for patients. Charge nurses are leaving because the pressure it too high, with zero reward. We get no recognition, positive feedback, rewards of any kind. Not even for nurses week.
