Pros

Work from home, excellent mobility opportunities, experienced colleagues who are willing to provide support, rigorous curriculum

Cons

following the 8 -4 typical school schedule makes this job more demanding because you have students who work during different hours and while you are not required to meet with them outside of the 8-4 schedule you feel obligated to meet their needs. Administration seems to fly by the seat of their pants at times. Enrollment for the program lasts for 12 weeks at the beginning of the school year, pulling teachers away from currently enrolled students. Rigorous curriculum, but some links do not work and directions are not clear -- teachers cannot make changes and they must be approved through a curriculum department who only updates the curriculum in the summer.

Pros

-Love working with the students in HISD -Most coworkers are amazing and passionate about providing access to post-secondary options to all students

Cons

-Instruction from higher up in HISD is often inconsistent, and they deliver expectations and news VERY last minute -There's a lot of disorganization due to being understaffed as everyone is being stretched thin -Isn't room to grow pay-wise in this role; I have to change roles in order to get a salary increase.
