Pros

-100% remote work, but still with a team atmosphere where you have the support of a great team and management. -Interesting, challenging work - Relatively small team (~30 people at the time this review was written) but feels much bigger since you are working with a wide variety of clients -Lots of opportunity for growth -Live in whatever great location you want to and have a challenging career with a nationally competitive salary - Supportive management and great benefits including paid family leave -100% remote work (yes, I said that twice because can't emphasize enough how cool it is to have a real job that is 100% remote with no commute)

Cons

Not much to say here. First time remote workers may struggle with work life balance (easy to work OT when your desk is in your house). There are times when I work more than 40 hours or outside of 8-5 M-F based on client needs but it is more than balanced out by the flexibilty I have on a daily basis.

Hunley Response

We do think that fully-remote work offers a unique differentiation for Hunley Group, and we've striven to find lots of ways to make it work well for the team. Frankly, we worry more about people overworking than not working enough when they're independent; it can be easy for the boundary between home and work to blur. We try to watch people's hours closely to compensate! Aaron, Partner

Pros

I came to Hunley from the type of place that makes you take your laptop on vacation and let me tell you, when they say they value flexibility, they mean it. I am encouraged to take time off (they have an awesome FTO policy) and have support when I do. I was able to take my daughter to her first week of school and knew I'd be covered by my team. Being able to put my family first without feeling guilty for it has been life changing. Additional pro, AMAZING benefits. They take care of their people.

Cons

Nothing of note, we're growing so there's a lot of work right now but the leadership team jumped on that right away and is working hard to hire what we need.

Pros

You will get experience with the practices and culture of a big firm background, with the access that comes with a small team. If you love Deloitte, you'll be very happy here! It's cutthroat, it's competitive, it gives you an opportunity to learn how to navigate a challenging work environment that expects high performance and quality delivery while also having access to leadership and the perks that come with a fully remote employee at a small firm. If you operate well in the gray area and don't really need clear direction, if you are comfortable being a Maverick that paves their own way, this is the place for you. And, they make sure you have everything you need in terms of technical resources!

Cons

There is management, not leadership. Rules, not mentorship. But don't worry - there is a lot of "process" in place! Only, the company will not tell you exactly what those processes are because you are so smart, you'll figure it out on your own. Until you get penalized for not doing things according to best practice. Leadership is not transparent. You will never get a direct answer. It is like working with politicians!
