Pros

-They'll hire pretty much anyone so it's a great place to get some experience, just shower regularly and you're hired -The part time pay is pretty generous considering the lack of experience required -Because of the aforementioned lack of workplace experience in general, most every one of my coworkers were really casual and friendly, not sure if this would apply to all locations

Cons

-Stated previously, they'll hire anyone, so we have somewhat sketchy and/or incompetent people here I wouldn't trust. They're thankfully few, but the people who were allowed to stay only remain because they're good at customer service. -Convenient as it is to shop after your shift, the prices are really high for your average grocery store -My location in particular cares so much about their online reputation that people get reprimands for Facebook comments within the week -Vice versa, they hold people who get customer compliments online on a pedestal and put the compliment on the employee corkboard so everyone else can feel inferior (in a headache-inducing font, btw) -While they offer a myriad of benefits, general employee welfare doesn't seem to be a concern to them, and I've seen coworkers of mine come in to work sick because they couldn't find someone to cover their shift. I myself have gotten in an accident on my way to work once, and they had to send over a coworker to bring me in to work because my car was no longer working.

Pros

Hy-Vee is a great company that truly cares about the communities we serve. Our 14 fundamentals drive both the customer and employee experience, guiding how we treat and serve our customers and each other. Leadership actively seeks employee feedback and uses it to drive meaningful change across all locations. There is a wide variety of jobs and career opportunities in many different areas of the company from retail to supply chain, IT, marketing, and so many more. obust employee benefits include tuition assistance for degrees, certifications, and foundational learning at little to no cost to employees, and the company focuses on promoting from within for most leadership roles.

Cons

As a 24/7 retail business, scheduling can be demanding in some roles — though the variety of positions means there's flexibility to find the right fit. With a large, decentralized workforce spread across hundreds of locations, consistent employee communication is an ongoing area of focus and improvement.
