Pros

I worked at IC Axon in the content department for a couple of years and loved working there. The directors and editors are extremely personable, intelligent, and flexible. They always expressed appreciation when something was done well, and recognized someone's talents and strengths. The environment was challenging intellectually, but allowed for work–life balance. I found that management was always willing to work with the employee, whether it be additional coaching, attaining professional goals, or accommodating requests for vacation.

Cons

I would recommend working here.

Pros

Great colleagues that are very supportive of each other, which makes a huge difference. The location is good, downtown/plateau. It's also a good place to start working for a first/second job, you learn a lot about the pharma industry and can make good connections. The processes and training for microsoft and other applications and file saving standards is valuable.

Cons

A lot. There is no consideration of employees personal lives, people are expected to consistently work evenings, weekends, and many stat holidays. Scheduling vacation is a huge nightmare, and people are often obliged to cancel their vacations if a big project comes up. Everyone is overwhelmed, it is a very unhealthy working environment that is conducive to poor mental health. Clients are often rude and treat employees badly, and management does nothing to support employees when this happens. The CEO has a huge temper and frequently yells at employees, in front of other employees and often clients (so unprofessional). So many people burn out, the turnover is far too high, way too much work, employees are only appreciated with fake empty words, low salary. HR is 1 person who does not care about employees and has very strong reactions when an issue is brought forth that is quite unprofessional.

Based on your comments you were an employee a while back. Let me take this opportunity to update you on the changes over the past year and our outlook moving forward. Over the past year, IC Axon has successfully implemented its new Management structure with great success. The functional managers work collaboratively to run the business and make the necessary improvement to manage with our fast paced, changing industry. To this end, we offer more training and more opportunities for advancement to our employees. It also means that employees have the chance to be better groomed as they prepare to go to the next level in the workplace. Overall results include: - Reduced turnover - Career advancement opportunities for qualified candidates - Increased Employee engagement - Improved benefits and compensation. In many cases the compensation is at market or above market and enhanced Employee Assistance Program - Employees and managers are accountable for their roles and the changes that come with it. The pace and the requirements in our industry don’t change and flexibility is a requirement of the position. However, the collaboration and communication among the managers the professional discussions among the employees and their immediate managers is solid. The discussions around vacations, preparing work assignments are aligned with taking into consideration many factors including the employee’s knowledge, skills and abilities. Open conversations take place during the hiring process and as the employee evolves in the organization. This permits an employee to make an informed decision on the best direction for each employee to for his/her career at IC Axon. We appreciate that you were a member of the IC Axon team and hope you are continuing to enjoy much success in your career.
