Pros
- The work is incredibly interesting, and you have a lot of creativity at your job. - Your coworkers are for the most part young and enthusiastic and fun to be around.
Cons
- Incredibly high turnover and burnout are always seen as inevitable, even when they are not. This leads to a non-solutions oriented culture as there is no willingness to address the ability to improve the situation. - Communication and support from HQ are incredibly poor. This is a fundamental problem as the HQ still tries to centralize many things, despite their growth and lack of capacity to understand, communicate, and work with field missions. - Due to the high turnover, less experienced staff, slow recruitment, and lack of standardized procedures from HQ, processes are unnecessarily inefficient and staff are constantly overworked and re-inventing the wheel. - Most staff are early in their careers. While this in some ways gives good experience to younger staff, the team in general misses out on having experienced mentors. - Staff with outside experience and perspectives are not valued and seen as a threat. Staff who try to discuss fair improvements in the organization are labeled as" not dedicated", and many times are pushed out or let go.
