This was my first job out of graduate school and I was offered a less than appealing salary given my qualifications. With it being my only offer and something close to home I hesitantly accepted... During my tenure I do not think I learned much or any of my skills were put to good use. They hire engineers for their resumes NOT to do actual engineering. It was an extremely disappointing first job, toxic work environment (from management the rest of the employees were great), and little compensation for the work you do. To begin, training consists of being told to read an old report that they have wrote and you are then immediately put to work. There is no formal training that will set you up to be a competent worker at the company or that will look good on your resume for future employment. You are required to be in office daily in business formal attire although you do not do any in person face to face work with clients and meetings are typically held via skype. Once you begin working on projects, much of what you need to learn will have to be done on the fly with expectations that you understand what management wants, typically with confusing and minimal instruction and structure to the task provided. You will inevitably repeat tedious work as management constantly is indecisive and decides to change direction after the task is finished as they are very late on checking progress or they simply lose track of project progression. On top of the constant change of direction, management will also make it seem like it was a mistake on your part even though you had followed the instructions provided and executed the task to their needs while discussing such in daily meetings. The icing on the cake is the that with the work you do complete, you are never able to advance yourself by presenting your findings to the client. Rather management will present such with not knowing the ins and outs of your work and not represent the work you have done well. As for career progression, there is virtually none other than slight salary raises and title changes. With the way upper management handles the work, everyone including those with years of experience at the company is treated as mere pawns in the project while the management will micromanage and oversee the projects as a whole. With this being said, the future of this company is not very bright for a young professional as the company repeats its clients constantly and seems to do such through an old friendship which once upper management or the client retires will go away immediately.

I worked mostly remote and i really enjoyed the work. Perks were great. Benefits were great for a small firm.

I worked at INTEK during a period when the company appeared to rely heavily on recent graduates while providing limited structure, training, or onboarding. Expectations were often unclear, and employees could receive criticism for issues that had never been communicated beforehand. Rather than developing employees through mentorship and clear feedback, management frequently relied on vague comments that made it difficult to understand how success was being measured. One of the biggest challenges was the workplace culture. Communication could feel condescending, and constructive feedback was often overshadowed by arbitrary criticism. Employees were expected to figure things out independently despite receiving little guidance, which created unnecessary stress and contributed to turnover. The work itself had the potential to be interesting, and many of the younger employees were intelligent and hardworking. Unfortunately, the management style often undermined employee confidence rather than helping people grow professionally.
