Pros

I was able to get a fair number of hours, and the classes were mostly prepared for me.

Cons

The work was not steady.

Pros

Training, although it was very poorly paid. Less than minimum wage. Students, locals, co-workers. (Those last 3 have nothing to do with the company, actually. It was difficult to find a pro.)

Cons

Hours (12 hour days, despite being told in the interview it would be afternoons+evenings OR mornings+afternoons) Area (I had a random creepy man follow me and try to grab me demanding sex while I was walking just 5 minutes to the bus stop. The place is full of criminals and prostitutes. Nothing to eat there for lunch, either. Took nearly one-hour to commute there from the city.) Aggressive and intimidating manager (He screamed at me in my classroom for buying too many teaching aids and leaving them in my classroom, even though the school didn't have and wouldn't pay for any) 3 hour long lessons for high school and adults, and 2 hour lessons for teens. Terrible pay, barely enough to live on. Definitely not enough to take a few days off. Students are charged >€60 per lesson and we were given €12. Manager gloated about how he had so much money he went to Vegas to blow it all once. Meanwhile we can barely pull together rent. No help with getting accommodation or settled in whatsoever. Our landlord kept €650 of our deposit and nobody helped us.

Pros

I have been working at I speak English, Elmas since 2016, started as a teacher then went on to senior teacher and now I am the assistant director of studies. Some of the advantages have been being able to grow and develop my teaching skills, gain the confidence in areas that I wanted to improve, obtain part of my DELTA with help from the school and now I am able to learn more about management, organise workshops and focus on the future. Despite the difficulties with Covid, the school is still growing strong and I would like to say that I'm glad to be a part of it. I would like address the comments made by in March 2020: the area, like all areas has good and bad parts of the city, the salary is competitive to other schools and to the cost of living (which they would have known before moving to Sardinia). The director of studies is person with a lot of patience and understanding, I've always found him to be fair and I can say that honestly as I've been working here for nearly 5 years.

Cons

Needs a bigger teachers' room for its resources
