Pros

The benefits package is good. Decent insurance and a good 401K. A decent amount of PTO. Having only worked on the hotel side of things, I can say that working in a field site gives you some independence and flexibility, in both how to do your job and with your hours. Support from corporate has always been good. They will do what they can to help you. Support from my regional manager and from other employees within my region is outstanding.

Cons

The biggest issue for me comes from working on the hotel side. You're treated as a red-headed step child by the hotel. You're expected to follow all of ITA's rules and the hotel's rules. You'll be treated like a member of the family by the hotel, right up until they either desperately need something for free or need a scapegoat. Oh, and if they don't think you're a good fit for the hotel anymore, or if the hotel GM just decides he just doesn't like you, then you're out. Be prepared to work more than you expected to during the busy seasons. Events can change or even just pop up at the last moment. Career advancement: If you work at a field site and you don't desire to move to Cincinnati, then your only chances at advancement comes from one of the regional managers leaving the company. Incentives to excel: There is only one. Beat your revenue goals for the year and get an extra 1% wage increase at your yearly review. Other than that, there is nothing. Come in at #1 for customer service out of 350 hotels in your brand and you might get an email saying good job. Steal a $15,000 event from a competitor at the last moment and you might get an email. Consistently meet your labor to revenue goals and your only reward is being allowed to ignore the angry emails sent out each week. You'll almost never see a tip. Even if you're absolutely the only thing the client enjoyed, their tips are handled through the hotel's bill. Which goes to banquet employees. The only true reason to excel at ITA is because you take pride in what you do.

Gift Cards are sent to everyone who receives kudos from our customers via a letter or through our QC program so work on some honorable mentions! :-) Our Hotel Managers (DAVSs) started off being salary + commission. It worked GREAT until we were audited by the DOL (Department of Labor). Sadly their position was it's against the law for a DAVS to be salary + commission unless he/she manages others most of the time. They levied a HUGE fine against us then backed it down to a reasonable amount and told us NEVER AGAIN. We heard them loud and clear. That being said we are actually exploring an incentive system/program they (the DOL) will approve of. Keep your fingers crossed and thanks for the input!

Pros

I started working for ITA in 2016 as a warehouse tech. Within a year, I was promoted to an AV tech. What I loved about working as a tech is that ITA gives you the opportunity to be part of the planning, quoting, and execution phases of events. We have a great team here that cares about their employees and work-life balance, which is very rare in the AV industry. After working as a tech for four years, I transitioned into sales. I already had the AV knowledge from my previous work and education, but ITA trained me on the sales side of things. My colleagues and our GM were great and incredibly helpful in teaching me the ropes. I’ve been with the company for over nine years now. It’s pretty common for people to stay here long-term. We even have an employee who has been here for 38 years! I’d recommend ITA to anyone who has a passion for AV, wants to learn and expand their knowledge, and still be able to have a personal life.

Cons

I stubbed my toe yesterday.

Pros

Many of my co-workers were helpful with learning the job and getting comfortable with the process. There is possibility of overtime and my boss was flexible.

Cons

I was sexually harassed by a co-worker. HR did an investigation, and didn’t give me an update until I directly asked about it. They said they took ‘corrective action’ and expected both my harasser and me to maintain ‘a professional work environment.’ I requested that we find a solution for myself to not be scheduled at events with him and move my base office to one of my other locations of work. They would not take any of my concerns into account, and were very defensive of my harasser. I made it clear that I wanted to move elsewhere, not move his place of work, so I could work to my full potential without feeling unsafe at work. They did not want to accommodate me at all, and I had to quit due to the effects of the situation on my mental health.
