Pros
Made serious money, around $400-$500 on my best nights. Gained some great restaurant experience, and some painful (needed) life experience. Had tons of fun, many great nights, working here was exciting, it was a constant changing adventure each and every day, I woke up every morning excited for my next and the adventure todays show would hold.
Cons
Management does not value their employees and will under no circumstance invest in cultivating your talent. That is your job and your responsibility alone. Do not expect any sort of coaching and development. Your relationship as a server at Icehouse is “Just business” or “showbiz” as you will. You are not family, do not expect any form of loyalty; this is the highest form of “at will” employment that exists. Icehouse has absolutely no obligations to you other than to release funds for hours previously worked. You probably will get fired, this is not baseball, they won’t give you 2 or 3 strikes, they will fire you, and it’s okay, they fire pretty much every server. During my short stay, most of the servers Management specializes in recruiting young women from strip clubs and other various joints. Your “at will” labor contract will not hold value if you make any sort of mistake, Management can & will give you the boot and harvest a ripe new Experienced girl to replace you tomorrow. Make sure not to put all your eggs in this one basket, be sure to have a second part time job, because although this may work out well for you, after all, it worked out extremely well for me for a while, be prepared for the most likely scenario where they fire you for little reason and replace you with a more profitable employee. It’s “just business” this is show biz.
