Pros

Pickleball court, fun young startup type environment. Lots of young people with entry-level type positions who all want to learn and grow together. Decent social events and opportunities with coworkers. Room for growth with the fast growing environment as long as you can handle the stress of working as much as they expect you too.

Cons

You don't actually work for IdealShape, you work for parent company - The Hut Group, who acquired IdealShape in Q4 of 2016. The Hut Group is an international brand who cares most about money, not about employees or about the 7+ brands they own. Customer service comes second to money. Employees come after money. Everything is about budget profit and money. Promotions and opportunities are given to people who are liked most. Often times someone receives a new position that no one else even knew was open. There was no application process, no review, and the person may or may not have much experience in that area, but is given the position because they are liked by the higher-ups. Now this is normal in every job and every workplace, but more so at IdealShape. Salaried workers are expected to work all the time at IdealShape. Not just when you're on the clock or when you're in the office. But at home. At midnight. All evening. You're not doing your job well if you're not staying after 5:30pm every day. You're lazy if you don't get in before 8AM. Not a good Work/Life balance. The Hut Group often talks big but then does the opposite or just doesn't do anything at all. Lots of talk, not a lot of action.

Pros

People here are awesome. Great brands and good people. Pickleball Stocked fridges (sometimes) The products we sell are awesome and actually help people

Cons

IdealShape was a fantastic place to work until The Hut Group acquired it in 2016. The same day we were acquired, people were let go for no reason and no warning. Fast forward 7 months later and several changes later, I've learned one thing: THG is all about money. They won't spend any more than they have to on marketing and wonder why sales and acquisition are down. They are VERY numbers oriented which is great until reporting on numbers takes hours upon hours every week. Teams struggle because they are understaffed, people often do the work of 2-3 people. The original mission of IdealShape (transform and improve lives) seems to have been smothered by the new mission of numbers numbers numbers, make money make money make money. If it wasn't for the awesome people I would have left already. Oh and pay is average. I've been here over a year and they started someone at the same pay I had to work up to with the same qualifications. Not sure if that's sexism or just the nature of working for a new parent company. I feel like people are mostly just running around like a chicken with no head, so much to do but not enough time to do it, unless if you work 80 hours per week but some of us would still like to have a life.
