Pros
You work with the cruise lines so it seems like a fun job. Despite all of the pressures, I worked with some fantastic people who are extremely talented and creative. Another pro is that the break room in the Miami office has everything so that you can bring your lunch, put it in the refrigerator, heat up food in a microwave, toaster oven, or even a George Forman Grill. They also have free tea and coffee.
Cons
You slowly begin to realize that no one really matters, HR doesn’t work for the employees, and photographers feel hopeless. You are expected to work way more than the 40 hours (exempt employees), and HR will call you, text you, and email you at nights and on weekends. In one year 2 photographers committed suicide on the ships, and one when he returned home. Another photographer was told by the ship’s doctor to quit for her own health because stress was going to kill her. The photographers continually calculated that the crew doing laundry made more money than they did.
