Pros
Good pay and fringe benefits which often goes unaccounted for while discussing CTC. good Work/life balance. Adequate freedom in experimenting in job & great scope for self development
Cons
Only downside is its terribly unimaginable place of posting and unexpected transfers. You have to be lucky enough to get a decent posting and stay there for considerable period of time. No fast forward promotions like pvt. sector. Experience counts a lot in IOC
