Pros

- offers opportunity to write on trending topics with their approval

Cons

- very lengthy and "Testing" interview process - gives "logistical" and also absolutely bogus reasons for delay in agreement and payment - lures with highmonthly salary. promises transfer of payment but delays and ultimately fails to - absolute lack of transparency or check over the employer - a selfish employer only seeking to fulfill their motives only - could really care less about yours

We are technically not an employer and do not have any "employees", or even offer "high monthly salary", everyone contributes in a freelance capacity, and only gets compensation for articles that are approved by our editors for publishing. Unfortunately, there are a few disgruntled folks whose writing or work product was not accepted by indibeat editors as deemed publishable, who may feel they got the short end of the stick, but we have dozens of writers current and former that can attest to getting fairly compensated for articles they submitted. Would be glad to provide references to anyone interested, just email work@indibeat.in.

Pros

The owner of this company is as sly and underhanded as they come. Maintaining the guise of a professional, he will beguile you with his laid-back attitude and general friendliness. However, this person is actually fooling you into working for free without even bylines to show for your time. He has studied the Indian market and takes full advantage of the lack of well-paid employment opportunities and the inadequacies of the Indian legal system in order to hoodwink already underpaid scribes.

Cons

The payment is fine initially, but then the delays begin. He cons you into thinking that all your salaries are being accrued and will be paid off in bulk in the near future. However once it adds up to a big amount, he doesn't respond to e-mails or pick up phone calls. If you are a writer with some sense of ideals and ethics, you definitely should not even consider working here. Another funny fact about the owner- he thinks Salman Khan is innocent in the hit and run case because 'poor people shouldn't be sleeping on the streets'

Whoever this "anonymous freelancer" may be, please feel free to contact us at accounts@indibeat.in to state your case. For anyone reading this, unfortunately, we have had to reject a handful of article submissions (out of thousands), which has resulted in sour grapes in literally 2 occasions out of 50+ contributors over the past couples years, and it seems it's the same person who has posted here on Glassdoor 3 times over the past 2 years. Frankly, the proof is in the pudding, we wouldn't be able to produce high quality content over the past several months by treating worthy writers unfairly.
