Pros

I have amazing shoppers that I am able to help daily, I truly care about the people I work with and that makes a huge difference in my enjoyment of the job. We have flexible hours and are not reprimanded for taking vacation or sick time. In my city, management does communicate with us daily (weekdays) and are good about fixing errors when they have the power to do so.

Cons

We are the ones who bare the brunt end of any change that occurs and have no say over those changes that happened. We are the deliverers of good and bad news. We have limited responsibilities and I would appreciate the ability to fix hours, get people back on shift, see the schedule for the upcoming week, etc. This would take pressure off of our management and help our shoppers in the moment.

Pros

Fun going out and talking to people. You will interact with people everyday. You control how much you get paid. Lots of flexibility in the time between accepting an order and traveling to the store and beginning to shop. It isn't pedal to the metal to get to the store like DoorDash is. You can also cancel batches after accepting as long as you keep your rate under 15%. This is different from DoorDash where your rankings will suffer if g.t. 2% cancellation rate.

Cons

There's a learning curve and it takes a while to learn each chain of stores' items. Once you become proficient at one store, the algorithm will lowball your offers relative to other less-experienced Instacart shoppers. Overall, Instacart shoppers likely get paid similar or less than the store's regular employees.
