Pros

Great market leading product, very passionate and knowledgeable people, some of the nicest individuals I have worked with across most departments. Decent benefits and a great opportunity to sharpen your sales skillset as Canvas is both feature rich and fairly technical in some aspects. Great logo and branding that puts Canvas in the conversation for most prospects heading to market.

Cons

The product seems dated and lacking in innovation, seem to be growing by acquisition instead of constant development on the core feature set. This company is ruthlessly profit oriented, many layoffs during my short tenure across both senior management and individual contributors. There is an extreme to the point of obsessive scrutiny over pipeline, these details all need to be recorded, tracked and analysed week in week out and combed over by the executive team in a never ending hamster wheel. I believe that while Canvas was originally a creative, mission driven company that became a favourite in the market, the transition to a VC backed company has seen a ruthless optimisation of costs and the constant granularity at which performance is reviewed weekly mean that it becomes an easy decision to reduce headcount. You aren't thrown a farewell party at Canvas, you are quietly taken outside and shot.
