Pros

Absolutely great program staff and feeling of being on a team for coordinator and support-level staff Some of the department directors and program managers are good to their staff and advocate for them I started working here 5 years ago and have had a lot of opportunity to grow and get promoted Can be really rewarding work when you're not totally exhausted

Cons

Emotionally grueling work, which would be okay but lately with so much administrative leadership in flux, not much talk beyond some department leadership of supporting the staff who might be suffering from compassion fatigue or even just pandemic burnout Very high staff turnover - kept some staff on temp basis with no benefits throughout pandemic! - and we have NEVER had a real HR department! Really poor communication from leadership to staff and between departments. We are all at scattered sites and really need an intranet or internal news bulletin but we don't even have cloud storage so I'm not optimistic. New CEO seems to have all these grand ideas on how to "do things better for everyone" and pretends to listen to staff concerns then completely blows them off and does something totally different that we don't find out about until after it's been implemented Nobody seems to know why "interfaith" is in our name. The one lady who does seems to be getting pushed out and silenced. Level of faith community engagement has depended entirely on which CEO has been in place. Right now seems to be treated like a total afterthought in favor of local politicians. And the only faith communities engaged are really rich churches with lots of volunteers who like to bring meals, but there's very little two-way engagement. Some of the BEST staff we've had in the 5 years I've been here get driven off the quickest! Also accounts payable sometimes just decides it doesn't believe that you were sick that 1 day and so docks your vacation leave (rolls over and pays out after you leave) instead of sick leave (does not roll over and not paid out)
