Pros

There is a two-hour window for you to get to work. Benefits are given after a few months. The breaks are also pretty long, and they can be longer if you request them. Checks given every two-weeks.

Cons

Bad place to work. The people that work here are very childish. This is evident by all the posters of comic books and science fiction movies that are on the wall. It is like walking into a teenager's bedroom. There is an inner-circle at this department. If you are not part of the inner-circle, then they will not care to help you, or even care to talk to you. This makes the job more difficult than it really is. There is also a "class clown" in this department, and he spends all his time making jokes; this is because he is not smart at all. Most of the girls at this place do nothing but gossip. One of the girls in particular spends most of every day complaining in a whisper about others; has a lot of free time. All the drama at this place got old very quick. This is not a good place to work. There are a lot of 12-hour shifts; most of them overnight shifts. You will not have many things to put on your resume when you decide to leave. It will all seem like a waste of time when you leave. Overall, most of all the cons about this place are due to bad co-workers. The people that have been there longer work hard to pass their work onto the newer people. That is how they have a lot of free time. Don't waste your time with this place. But if you like to untangle Christmas lights and watch paint dry for 12-hours, then go ahead because that is (as a comparison) the bulk of the job. Finally, this department has a high turnaround rate. This means that people are quitting this job at a high rate.

Pros

Straightforward work. Good entry level job that allows you to gain experience. On the higher end scale for chemistry entry positions in SoCal

Cons

Little to no upward movement.

Pros

This is a great stepping stone to gain actual laboratory experience outside of college. There are lots of instruments and different tests to learn and perform to get a good start in this career path. The lead and senior chemist are very helpful when it comes to asking questions since they actually know what they're talking about. They also don't push their own work onto you.

Cons

Unfortunately the manager and remaining coworkers don't really know what they're talking about and when you ask for further clarification, they get mad and start berating you. They also treat all new people like they're stupid and should know everything. There's a reason new people are considered new people. The other "self-proclaimed" seniors also like to push their work onto you while they just sit at their seats playing with their phones. This is unfortunately common since all new people are treated this way, Examples are include throwing away samples, logging in reagents, making copies, taking over their tests, cleaning up after their messy lab benches, etc.
