Pros

Coworkers were pretty cool. There was a coffee machine. Was generally able to leave work at the office. Pay was fine for the role.

Cons

No meetings. Low morale. No education/training. No room for growth. For a marketing firm, little to no attention paid to SEO. The other negative reviews of the CEO seemed harsh when I was applying for the job, but I'd say they are pretty accurate after coming out on the other side. Jason routinely walked into the office without greeting or talking to anyone. Never knew what kind of mood he was going to be in. Tiny cubicles. Shoebox of an office. This is absolutely a revolving door type of job. It's OK for a starter job if you're completely desperate...otherwise, I can't recommend this business to most people. Pretty much all of the non-developer employees I worked with either quit or got fired within a year of me leaving. A long-time friend and employee of Jason's started a competing firm, then threatened to come up to the office to cause a scene while holding a company laptop hostage. We were all sent home for our safety...without pay. Shortly after that, the HR employee offered the "opportunity" to take unpaid time off. Really weird stuff. Abandon hope all ye who enter here.

Pros

In my work life, I've been fortunate to work at places for extended lengths of time (3 years or more). The upside to that is that I've truly gotten to know each place I've worked. The downside is that I have a smaller sample size (about 6 companies). With all that time at each company, I’d say I got to truly know them and see them evolve. At most of the companies, the sense I got in working there was that I should be happy to have a job. At Internet LAVA, however, I’ve only ever felt that they were happy to have me. It’s been the most refreshing difference since the day I started.

Cons

By no means is this company perfect, nor are there attempts to paint it as such. There's room for improvement in many aspects. The difference is that there are sincere attempts to get us there.

Pros

Many great improvements have been implemented over the last 6 months. New location near the Galleria. Much better office building and location. Health insurance benefits are now provided, along with a good 401k retirement plan, increased PTO accrual, and paid holidays. The owners are both very relaxed and easy to get along with. Jason Miller is a young CEO who started the company while he was still in college. He has provided many young people with great entry opportunities into the web marketing industry. I worked for Internet Lava for over three years, and had to leave the company because I moved out of state. Unfortunately, I left the company shortly after many of these improvements were put into place. The new location and new office in the Galleria area is a great improvement over the old 290 location. A new project management system was implemented which greatly improved organization of projects. New staff were hired or promoted into new positions to help management be more organized and better serve the clients. While there have been some employees who have come and gone over the years, the current staff here are all very talented and helpful. They have built a great team. The clients are an absolute pleasure to work with.

Cons

Small company of only 12 employees. This can be a pro or a con, it's nice working for a small company, but sometimes the workload can add up.
