Pros

The position is as advertised, you must be professional and safe, always! If you are just starting out in the oil business, this is not an oil field job. You are working as a third party representative and an extension of the client you are working for whether it is an oil company, insurance company or trading company. You will meet a number of highly influential people in the biz including customs agents, refinery personel and loss control. If you stay professional and work hard, you can expect to advance in the company or out of the company to one of the oil companies or better.

Cons

As a petroleum inspector you can expect to work regularly at all hours during your scheduled days on. At least there is a set schedule now that these companies must pay real overtime. Watch your step, wear your PPE and come home safe.

Pros

Good group of people in local office.

Cons

Stuck in the past. Unwilling to consider updating methods or procedures. "We've done it this way for 30 years and it has worked." Sales relies upon project engineers to do most of their work for them. When volume of work is slow that becomes the engineers responsibility to go find new clients. Can't reliably pay the most basic of utility bills on time. I've seen the power cut off 2x and the gas this past winter.
