Is this your company?

Are they stupid or greedy? - Manager Intrepid Learning Solutions Employee Review

Pros

The flexible work schedule. Most employees work from home at least 1 day a week, usually more. Additionally, about 75% of the employees are great to with. They are responsive, collaborative, and passionate. We usually have a common goal and, for the most part, work well together to successfully achieve it.

Cons

The senior leadership of the company has no idea what they are doing. They make stupid almost reckless financial decisions like laying off lower paid support positions while giving the sales people an increase to their already $100K/yr base salary with little to no incentive to actually sell anything. And then they wonder why the sales aren't coming in and we are still not profitable after almost 10 years. And continue to scratch their heads at why the good people are leaving. The biggest, most note worthy thing the new CEO has done in his 8 months with the company is remodel his office which earned him an additional $100k bonus. If the right people like you, you will do well financially. However, if you end up on the black list you might just find yourself laid off.

Pros

Great opportunity to do meaningful work with clients and grow your skills. In addition to serving current clients well, Intrepid has attracted some amazing new outsourcing clients (including top tech companies) in the last year, AND has built an awesome new learning technology product that combines social, collaborative & short-form learning. Great outcome for the company (people, clients, etc.) with the sale of the services business to Xerox, and launch of the tech business as a new company!

Cons

As a smaller company, at times there have been limits to the ability to advance to the next level--the Xerox acquisition addresses that for the outsourcing and professional services team members.

Pros

Flexible work schedules. Ability to work from home. Unfortunately, that's about it.

Cons

Stunningly unethical behavior on the part of senior managers. Many, many good people have left this company with a bad taste in their mouths. Sadly, Sam Herring is a figurehead and a "golden boy" who gives good speeches - but he is not the right person to lead a company, under any circumstances. There's been a revolving door of leaders for years. You're promised much more than you're given. Some of the unethical behavior is stunning in its transparency and audacity. Hard to believe Madrona backed this company and yet did not provide proper management oversight.
