Pros

Great company and people. Overall the company is a great place to work as long as you have no desire for market competitive growth and/or promotions within the company. 401K isn't great but it gets supplemented with equity that takes 4 to vest at 100%.

Cons

Don't plan on getting a promotion with a salary reflective of the position and any previous experience plus time spent with the company. HR would rather downgrade a position and keep you from getting market pay than see you grow with the company. The company cares more about perception than reality. HR will only consider your experience within the company. That approach enables them to justify the downgrades and lowball offers as "leveling" which forces people to leave for the exact same or higher promotion at a different company and market pay, creating internal churn and poor overall morale. For a younger, cutting edge company, there still remains the old school mentality among enough people in leadership that everyone should be in the office. So much so, they require you to commute to the office----- to take the exact same phone calls on the phone/zoom -------from the cluttered cube environment of the office -------that you would take from a home office .

Pros

The da Vinci is a powerful robotics platform and still unmatched by just about everything else in the market. With the product that great comes the experience and access to work with healthcare professionals and hospital systems at a level that is extremely valuable for a long career Medical Device. Also, the value you provide in the technical experience, the training pathway and the Surgeon learning curve to autonomy and the feeling of growing production is great when all the pieces fall into place.

Cons

If you're in an area that has good runway and they just need hands on deck with a supportive manager it's pretty straightforward career progression. However, there's a lot of territories that have been sold into a corner of sorts and because of the specific targets that absolutely need to be sold the management has gotten extremely picky and will specifically target reps from orgs such as JnJ, Applied and Medtronic to come in and flip the remaining surgeons that they've already been selling to.
