Pros

I got some great experience, I was allowed to branch out and do different things. This may have been down to the manager though, he was great. Very supportive and really pushed you to work to your potential. Fairly relaxed atmosphere, generally a good group of people to work with. I found there was some very hard working people there. Good training is offered (internally) and there is room for advancement. Good pension plan.

Cons

My area was severely understaffed which meant the workload was huge. A lot of the staff are ex council and have a 'different' way of working if you know what I mean, which meant that sometimes you're working hard as you can and you look around and everyone else has gone off for tea? Some areas had plenty of staff and it was frustrating to see that when you were knackered, they are having a chit chat and look to have nothing to do.

Pros

The people are fantastic to work with. Mostly a great atmosphere in every location. Work-life balance and activities. Space to move up (but it will take time). Versatile career paths. Offices around the country. Affordable canteen options.

Cons

Barriers to entry for employment Political and social decisions interrupt tactical day-to-day workflows. From a comms perspective, the work can be repetitive/mundane. Low starting salary
