Pros

Isler has a very welcoming and supportive environment. As a staff accountant who did both tax and audit work, I found people at the partner, manager and senior levels to be very accessible and always ready to provide guidance or support. The firm covers almost all costs associated with obtaining the CPA license. Isler CPA is a great place to work and provides many opportunities to learn and grow as an accountant.

Cons

The only cons are industry related - be prepared to take on some extra hours during tax season, and expect to travel when doing audit work. The firm often provided lunch during tax season, which I always appreciated. You also eat well when traveling for audit and stay at nice hotels.

Pros

Management prioritizes employees by offering reasonable workloads. Professional development opportunities exist every day through work experiences and courses. The overall attitude among team-members is positive and encouraging

Cons

The technical aspects of the accounting field can be difficult at times. The job timelines can be tight due to the nature of due dates in public accounting.

Pros

The main thing I enjoy about Isler is the people! Everyone is very helpful, upbeat, and open. You feel like you are respected as a person and not viewed as just another cog in the machine. The partner group is very flexible and understanding; as long as you act professional you will be treated as a professional. The culture is very locally oriented with every effort being made to use recycled products, encourage alternative commuting, and provide staff with time to volunteer in the community. All employees are invited to participate and help shape the firm and its future, and management actually listens to staff ideas. Membership in the McGladrey Alliance provides access to training and resources from a global accounting firm.

Cons

As a one office firm there is no dedicated IT department or staff. Long hours during busy season (but no more than with any other accounting firm). First year staff may work back to back busy seasons in tax and audit until they decide which direction to go exclusively.
