Pros

Opportunity to Lead Diverse Businesses - (Salon, Sephora, Fine Jewelry, etc.) Merchandising Flexibility (Although that's changing.) Loyal and Long-Term Associates.

Cons

Antiquated, fractured (not-interconnected) technology. Lack of leadership emphasis on development by senior management. Lack of clear focus, vision (what does JCP stand for today?) Top-down culture from corporate HQ divisions that doesn't communicate enough with each other to strategically plan workload for stores - especially with ever-diminishing resources. Lack of tangible commitment to solve real problems (ie Inventory Shrink). Financially, the company is 'hamstrung' and this inhibits the ability to take timely, progressive markdowns, resulting in heavier store workload (and leaving new merchandise in the stockroom due to selling floor space constraints).

Pros

If you like working early morning hours and getting off early in the afternoon (which I do) this is a great part-time job. I was a college student when I worked here so it worked perfectly with my schedule. The pay is pretty decent and the people you work with are friendly.

Cons

Only real downside is that it's retail. You're going to run into some rude customers from time to time. There's always work to do and not enough time given to do it sometimes. But as long as you work hard and managers see that you're trying your best there isn't too much pressure put on you.
