Pros

Hotel discount Free lunch Washing and maintaining of uniforms The ambiance of the hotel

Cons

Where to begin. After you complete their two day joke of a training program, where you, your trainer and ALL other trainees clean ONE room together based on an 80+ step guide they give you... you’re on your own. On your own where they expect you to clean an entire guest room in 30 minutes or less. Even if it’s trashed beyond recognition. Even if you’ve been assigned 14 check out rooms and none of them are vacant until after noon. Even if there’s an event at the hotel and at a 4 star property, there’s ALWAYS an event, You’re expected to clock out at after exactly 8 hours, sometimes earlier. Even when you’re hired as a full time employee, management expects you to do full time work in part time hours at times. If you stay over time too much, which is sometimes If not often times unavoidable AND YOURE TOLD YOU WILL OFTEN WORK PAST 8 HOURS WHEN INTERVIEWED, you will be lectured, written up and threatened to be fired. They want you to work like a mule but they don’t want to pay you to do so. I asked to shadow a faster worker with good quality so I could see what their routine was like. It took management SIX MONTHS to set that up for me yet they kept complaining about me not being fast enough. I wasn’t the only employee with this issue. Management often told me the quality of my cleaning was exceptional. Rooms I cleaned were used as photo shoot rooms to post on hotel websites. I had great work ethic, kept out of drama (oh! If you don’t get involved with catty work gossip and just come in, stay quiet, mind your business and do your job, they complain about it in your employee review! Tell you you’re too reserved! 🙃) was one of the few to actually show up daily unless I was sick... yet it wasn’t appreciated and I was never offered any real help. Other house keepers that get on time are favored ones (normally the loudest most obnoxious ones) that get extra help and support. Anyone else, sorry love. You’re on your own. You would think the team leads, who’s only job is to check room after they’re cleaned would offer more help during busy times but most of the time they’re nowhere to be seen. A couple were amazing... but you get a different team lead every day and you don’t get to choose who it is. Housekeepers are treated like second glass citizens here even though without them what hotel do you have beloved? Who wants to pay to stay in a filthy hotel room? “Housekeeper appreciation week” was an insulting joke, giving adult people that bust their butts day in and day out dollar store candy, lack luster pizza, a Disney themed “party”(with coloring pages!!!) in the dirty laundry room where we report to work. You would think we could at least get a free massage at the spa to ease some of those inevitable sore muscles. But nope, you’re just a number. It was very telling when on Valentine’s Day they threw a bunch of dum dum suckers out on the counter for the housekeepers, yet team leads got beautiful decorated fresh baked cookies with their names on them. In general, this hotel is very poorly run.
