Pros

-Wonderful boss that always had their door open, willing to listen and support. -Pay and benefits -Many team building activities. An annual team building outing, an annual whole agency event day to watch a presenter and get free merchandise/snacks, annual all-staff picnic, weekly team meeting, sometimes would get dinner or drinks with my team after work. -Focus on strengths-based language -Closeness with coworkers -They would tailor to your interests. If you wanted to lead a training, they would help you do that. If you wanted to volunteer at their career fair, they’d let you do it. They were always open to all my ideas.

Cons

Working in community mental health means working with high risk clients, and needing to adjust your day as needed for crisis. This was tough for me. Even if I only saw 3 clients one day, if they all were experiencing SI and needing safety planning, I felt drained coming home. Despite all the great attempts at work-life balance from the agency, I still managed to get burnt out.
