Coworkers Salary Benefits The vast majority of the people I had the pleasure to work with were great people and hard workers. Of course, there are always a few slackers, but I feel like they did get weeded out, at least in the wastewater department. Unfortunately that did lead to large spans of time where they were understaffed, due to the county's slow hiring process.
Cons
HR Politics Advancement potential By far the HR department was the worst I've ever come into contact with. They had a horrible reputation, and based on my experience with them it was well earned. I have never been talked to in such an insulting and derogatory way, or been called a liar by someone who was routinely lying to me. If you're going to have to deal with HR, do yourself a favor and just quit!
