Pros

Johnson Group's portrayal of a 'family' culture is misleading and often results in excessive workloads with no additional pay. Under this guise, management exploits employees, expecting them to handle overwhelming responsibilities traditionally managed by larger teams. This issue is exacerbated by the constant layoffs that contribute to an ever-present sense of job insecurity among the staff. Additionally, the agency is in a perpetual state of chaos, constantly scrambling to secure new clients as existing ones frequently alter their payment agreements, destabilizing the financial structure. The work environment is not only unstable but also intensely cliquey, with a clear division between the management's favorites and other employees. These favorites are often shielded from the more demanding aspects of client engagements, leaving the heavier burdens on those not in the inner circle. To make matters worse, Johnson Group recently disbanded its HR department, stripping employees of any formal avenue to address grievances or seek career guidance. This decision has stripped the workplace of what little humanity it had left, turning it into a soulless operation. The atmosphere at Johnson Group is not conducive to professional growth or personal well-being. Opportunities for advancement are biased, reserved for a select few, and the overall environment is toxic and rude. If you value your health and professional development, I would strongly advise looking for opportunities elsewhere where growth and respect are integral to the company culture.

Cons

Frequent layoffs, no HR department, excessive workloads without extra pay, unstable client payments, intensely cliquey, favoritism, lack of professional growth, dehumanizing work environment, low pay

Cons

I took a contract with these guys hesitantly. I read some of the reviews before taking the contract, but decided to overlook them because maybe that person (plural) just had a bad experience. Boy was I wrong. I have never worked with such an incompetent, negative, and chaotic organization. There is no HR. There is no real creative team or development team. They outsource everything. They outsourced me as the dedicated PM/AM for an account and didn't even tell the client. They don't have a real creative team. They outsource everything. Account Directors and "Director" of PM try to instill fear and micromanage everything to their liking. If you don't do it "their way" they will become passive-aggressive and try to expose you publicly, as if "their way" was better. They call themselves agile but use ClickUp as their PM software - they don't perform any agile ceremonies. I was only contracted for 20 hours, but they expected me to work more. And when I confronted them about it, they questioned what I was doing and became even more passive-aggressive because they knew they didn't "have me". All you have to do is read the other reviews of this place, and that should be enough insight for you to draw a conclusion. I wasn't there long enough because I left as soon as I could to speak on behalf of some others folks, I am only talking on behalf of interactive, account, & project teams. This agency is about 10 years behind the current landscape of advertising & marketing. Team members are stressed out, account managers are "Yes men", internal teams have exhausting workloads, and the general vibe is very terse & negative. It's felt almost immediately as you walk into the place. If I were a brand looking for an agency, these are the LAST people I would ever hire to build a website or run ads for me. After seeing how they operate internally, I plead you to look elsewhere. There are way better agencies than this makeshift group of "marketers." Putting in my notice gave me immense joy. Do yourself a favor and don't even interview with these guys.
