Pros

As management will happily tell you in your appraisal to remind you why you don't get paid according to your performance, professional qualification or market average, you get a good pension, bonus scheme**, free lunch, flexi-time. Working for a PLC is great for the CV. The relief you feel when you hand your resignation in. **(never got the maximum of 10% in my 7 years there, mostly between 2 & 3% or nothing at all)

Cons

Management, they have no relevant skills to manage people. Absolutely horrendous experience with them. They do not know how to deal with or help their employees experiencing conflict to the point where it was easier to leave after trying to get help for almost a year. HR management is the worst and most unprofessional I have ever experienced. It's frustrating and unclear how some of these managers have got to their positions, they clearly have no basic management training. Don't get me wrong, there are a few absolute gems but they are very few and far between. Bonus scheme isn't performance related so those members of staff that don't pull their weight get the same as those who work their butts off, very demotivating. Along similar lines you do get an annual inflation pay rise, but again all employees get this and it is not related to performance also not capped so people who have worked there for a long time can be earning way above their pay grade while the rest of us are left on the under market average salaries. (again demotivating - you can see why the title now). Most younger employees leave JM, the is being left with the old dead wood who management think are the most important employees when all should be equal. It is shockingly clear that there is a one rule of one, one for another culture. JM promotes "doing the right thing" ethics yet this is nowhere to be seen in practice. Lack of career progression and management don't see any value of employees building their skill sets with professional qualifications. I probably could list more but all in all, the first couple of years of working at JM is fine but then it rapidly goes down hill.

Pros

If you are lazy, this is the place for you

Cons

If you are somewhat competent, don’t worry, management doesn’t care. Employees are part of their politics game. From orders delay to customer complaints, management’s resolutions are to put in more tedious complicated system and lay off actual workers. Constant restructuring every 6 months with no idea what they want. Base pay is below average. Not sure why investors are still investing and why customers are still buying. I would give 0 star if I can.
