Pros
* Great product design (see cons for execution) * Great business model * Good internal teams * Strong company mission * Good people who want to do good For my time at Jolt, I would like to give this company a strong 3. I don't want to describe my entire time based on recency bias so I'll say that the people at Jolt genuinely believe that their product is doing good. This is something that can't be faked, and you can see that people genuinely believe in Jolt from the top to the bottom. However, after the acquisition by Smartsense inc, Jolt/Smartsense/digi fired all of those people, making the mission inconsequential to those who remained.
Cons
This sums up Jolt's cons in a single sentence: * Too Cheap to buy a conference table for their conference room, so they bolt Ikea Tables together instead. That choice reflects a broader pattern I saw during my time there. Cutting costs in ways that ultimately made work harder and less effective. For instance, the technical support team was expected to maintain products that were hot-glued together in a closet. Many of their other solutions were improvised and assembled with minimal resources as well. At times, it genuinely felt like equipment was being pieced together in whatever space was available, using whatever materials were cheapest. While I understand the need to manage budgets, it often resulted in frontline teams being held to performance standards that didn’t match the quality of the tools or support they were given. A proper conference table is just one example, but it illustrates a larger issue: long-term investment in the right tools was frequently overlooked. In my view, this may have been influenced by leadership’s focus on improving margins during a period when the company appeared to be preparing for a sale.
