Pros

Probably the only reason one would want to work here is to make some money. I am currently working here and I just have to post this anonymously because I am afraid they will fire me, which is a usual practice here, they have probably fired half of their staff during last year and there was no reason for that at all.

Cons

- First off, absolutely freaky management, I have never seen so many insecure and socially awkward people in my life... Every time I have to deal with any of them is such a stress because you never get what they're trying to say and this results in huge communication mess in our team. They have put RFID locks on all entrances although there is a security in the building, they track each and every movement you do during the day and there are more than 10 live cameras in every hall. - The pay is below average for each and every position. - Forget about getting any relevant work experience because you are just expected to do what you're told. Many of my colleagues here don't actually do the job they are supposed to according to their position. - You will be expected to have good relationships with the management, especially if you're a woman, if you're not, don't expect to get promoted. Also, expect some really creepy and disrespectful behavior from the management. - Promotion is the most tricky part here, because there is no real system in place. - People on management and middle management positions lack general knowledge as well as professional and ethical background, because they are promoted only because management approves them. - The interview process is unbelievable. It will take you quite a long time to please them. They are giving you assignments (with grammatical mistakes) and going back and forth with the interviews forever. - If you are working in technical support, they constantly force you to lie to the customers, because they can't deliver the appropriate service.

Joomag Response

First of all, the following review is not possible to be made by a current Joomager, because։ - We strive for open communication and fairness. It’s very important that people walk the talk and do what they say they are going to do in Joomag. Honesty is the best policy, and that’s why we’re very candid when it comes to feedbacking. Just listen to our CEO as a living proof: https://goo.gl/oZesmn , - 1-on-1s: a regularly scheduled 1-on-1 meetings between each manager and team-member to build a strong rapport and help each other become more effective via feedbacking, sharing opinions and talking openly on issues, - Climate Surveys: anonymous surveys organized quarterly within the whole Joomag team aiming to hear employees’ opinions, understand satisfaction, measure their views, attitudes and perceptions, - Open space office and opportunity to talk to anyone, including the co-founding/management staff every moment. See yourself: https://goo.gl/vfmR3W . As the following review includes obvious misleadings, we find it right to clarify each point. So, points of being not true: - You contradict yourself when mentioning “the only reason one would want to work here is to make some money” in pros and “The pay is below average for each and every position” in cons. Salaries in Joomag are not above/below some unknown averages, they are corresponding to one's professional and personal engagement to the company. - Regarding the “communication mess” in the team you mention, this is, obviously, not possible because of: - - Monthly recaps: each month each team reports to the whole team of “what has been done” during the previous month, - - Strategic meetings with CEO: each quarter our CEO meets with the whole Joomag team to share information on our previous achievements/failures and future plans to keep the team strategically aligned and up-to-date with company’s global movements, - - We are an IT company, accordingly, all of the communication is digitalized bringing clarity in every kind of interaction within the team. - “You will be expected to have good relationships with the management, especially if you're a woman, if you're not, don't expect to get promoted”, nothing to add, check Joomag LinkedIn profile and see our managers there: https://www.linkedin.com/company/joomag/ - Regarding the interviewing mess you mentioned: The level of openness and transparency towards our candidates is seen from the very beginning of our communication, when the direct link of our HR lead’s profile is provided to contact for any question: http://www.joomag.com/en/careers. Moreover, we treat all candidates with the respect they deserve and keep them informed of any updates to their applications during the hiring process, which is crystal-clear: you submit your CV online, we carefully consider it during the initial screening and contact you within 10 business days, then interviewing and task stages are followed. By the way, we send anonymous surveys to our candidates to evaluate the hiring process, till now our average score is 4.75 out of 5. Hence we will refer our candidates to share their anonymous feedbacks in Glassdoor as well, so that everyone sees the real picture. - “People on management and middle management positions lack general knowledge as well as professional and ethical background”: Again, check our LinkedIn profile and see the extensive experience and work ethics of each manager at Joomag. As the heart of Joomag has always been about recognizing the value that different life experiences and viewpoints, we seek people/managers from diverse backgrounds and encourage them to take risks and tackle new challenges. - “Joomag lies customers,” follow up with our rankings in g2crowd.com or just contact our live support anytime, nothing to add. The only point of being partially true: - “Promotion is the most tricky part here, because there is no real system in place” - Except for the Customer Service department, where promotional system is clearly designed (by the way, if you really had worked here, you would definitely know this), until recently yes, other departments lacked systematized approach. That is why we integrated “360 degrees evaluation” system this year as a developmental tool for improving employees’ professional and soft skills as well as creating ground for Joomag promotional system. The evaluation is conducted once a year in line with static “Salary reviews” system. Learn more about our culture and processes: - Startup Grind Yerevan Hosts Ruben Vardanyan։ https://goo.gl/oZesmn - Joomag perks and benefits: https://goo.gl/XBSd6n - Joomagers talk: https://goo.gl/pwM1yi And yes, thanks for your review thus focusing our attention on sometimes voicing out of how we care and treat our team at Joomag.
